MuseScore…


There are still some things in this world that are free and musicians really appreciate MuseScore.  If you were familiar with the free version of Finale back in the day, then you will enjoy this new, free, and fabulous music composition and notation software.

Finale and Sibelius are the two most advanced music notation software products on the market.  They are also expensive, but they both have many different version, each at a different price.   MuseScore is a perfect alternative for students.  The MuseScore program does all of the basic things Finale and Sibelius do and works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Some of the features include:

  • Score set-up with unlimited number of staves
  • Up to four “voices” per staff (ie: soprano, alto, tenor, bass)
  • Note entry with a MIDI keyboard, your computer keyboard, or mouse
  • Adding lyrics, dynamics, and articulation
  • Adding instruments
  • Adding repeats, 1st and 2nd endings, codas
