Listening 16

This week’s listening assignment is from a German-born French composer.  Offenbach was the pop performer of his day and if we lived when he did, he would be the # 1 selling performer on iTunes.

No Activity Sheet, but listen for the “Can-Can” theme to enter three times and a very grand ending.  This particular piece is only a portion of music from a larger work called “Orpheus in the Underworld” ~ playing witty political and cultural satire of the day.  Offenbach is an interesting composer.  His most famous work, “Tales of Hoffman”, deserve a look and listen.  Enjoy!
